Papatangaroa- Reef Star Information Report

Learning Intentions for Science
  • We are learning to understand that all living creatures have a life cycle.

  • We are learning that living creatures have bodies that are designed to help them to live and survive.

  • We are learning that all living things are designed to live in a particular environment.

  • We are learning to understand how food webs work.

  • We are learning that in an ecosystem all living things and their environment are interconnected.

  • We are learning to understand about the Rocky Shore and the impact, both positive and negative, we can have on this environment.
Literacy

As part of our rocky shore unit we will also use our literacy skills to read and learn about the rocky shore and to write an information report on a rocky shore creature.

Writing
We are learning to write an information report about an animal.
We are learning to use our writing skills across the curriculum.

  1. Good work Brighid. The way that slideshow moved in all different directions made it hard to focus though, as though I was turning the page backwards and then upside down. Who do you think the papatangaroa are a threat to?

I am certainly as interested in this animal as you are! I really enjoyed reading your work and I enjoyed working with you, Nathanael and Daniel on researching this creature. You were great to work with because you were focused and interested in finding the information. I also liked how you made sure you found some information out from Don too on our trip to the rocky shore. Talking to an expert is always useful. Because we did the planning really well together as a group I found that your writing was well structured and easy to read. Can you see how planning your work well can be a useful way to make sure your writing then goes well?
